How many more years before no one believes in God?
by JH in.
do you think there will come a time, where no one will believe in god or even talk about him?.
children at school aren't taught religion any more around here since years.. so, how long do you think it will take before no one talks about god anymore?

Qcmbr: aw stop it - most people in the world believe in God. I'm afraid you'll have to put up with the majority of us for a long time yet.
This isn't even remotely true, unless you lump Christianity in with Judaeism and Islam, and then it's only by a slim margin. Most of the world, if they believe in a personal God at all, do not believe in the Christian God. -

Hallmark disfellowshipping card:
On the front: I'm not thinking of you anymore...
Inside: because you're spiritually dead. -

If raised JW - or in while young - how strict were your parents?
by Jamelle ini'm just curious to know where my parents register on the scale of strictness...
growing up, i felt absolutely smothered by my parents (mostly my mother).
the things i couldn't do were above and beyond the limitations put on the other young people in our hall.

All the usual stuff, plus I wasn't allowed to defend myself. Turn the other cheek, and all that. It made me an easy target, of course, so I just made sure she never heard about it.

My mother was pretty good at embarrassing me, rather than the other way around.

I used to be tormented by nightmares about demons, starting - not surprisingly - around the time I began having doubts. It was so bad that I couldn't sleep, and to this day I still have insomnia, though those nightmares are long gone.
Finding out that my mother's "demon problems" were due to mental illness was a real eye opener. -

Is god all knowing?
by gringojj ini dont understand how god can be omnipotent, and all knowing, but that doesnt apply to knowing the future?
god is not human.
he had the power to create us.
-
Joel Wideman
I believe that God knows all possible futures. He knows how likely we are to make each choice, the outcome of each choice we make, and how our choices interact. The kicker is that He wants us to have that choice, so to most of us it looks like either He doesn't know or He doesn't care. But I believe that, like a parent raising a child, He prefers that we learn from our mistakes. Our growing population and civilization is proof that we are capable of doing so.
